What is the difference between ceramic and carbon heaters?
Carbon heating panels utilize advanced far-infrared (FIR) technology, emitting gentle yet deeply penetrating radiant heat that promotes therapeutic benefits like improved circulation and muscle relaxation. Their ultra-slim, energy-efficient design ensures even heat distribution without hot spots, seamlessly integrating into modern wellness spaces.
Ceramic tube heaters also leverage far-infrared heating, but with a more concentrated output—ideal for targeting heat-resistant areas like the back. While effective, their linear design creates localized high-temperature zones, unlike carbon panels’ uniform warmth. Both technologies differ from traditional saunas, which heat the air and rely on steam. Instead, FIR heaters directly warm the body from within, offering lower energy output but a more efficient, comfortable experience.
Durability and cost are key differentiators: ceramic tubes are simple and budget-friendly, but their material becomes brittle over time. Carbon panels boast longer lifespans and superior stability. Regardless, our 7-year warranty on heating elements ensures worry-free ownership.

Fir, Mahogany, Red Cedar, which sauna is better for me?
When you are shopping for an outdoor sauna, you will find that we have 3 types of wood: Fir, Mahogany and Red cedar. If we rank them in order of durability, the results are as follows: Red cedar = Mahogany > Fir. Of course, all saunas are sturdy and can withstand heavy storms and snow directly. Mahogany and red cedar are better suited to withstand heat and moisture without warping or cracking.
Fir is a type of softwood but relatively strong and durable. And Fir is lighter in color with small tight knots that give its rustic appearance. It is known for its stability and resistance to decay, making it a popular choice for outdoor construction projects. When used in saunas, fir provides a warm and inviting aesthetic.
Mahogany is a hardwood with a rich, reddish-brown color. It is known for its durability, strength, and resistance to decay and insect damage. The Janka hardness of mahogany rating of approximately 800 lbf (pounds-force).
Red cedar is also a durable wood with natural oils that provide it with inherent resistance to decay, rot, and insects. It has a distinctive reddish-brown color with a pleasant aroma. Red cedar is a beautiful natural wood that can vary in color, if you mind, please do not order the red cedar.
Mahogany, on the other hand, is a durable and beautiful wood, but it is not as naturally resistant to decay and insects as red cedar. Red cedar also has a natural oil that acts as a preservative, helping to prevent rot and decay. Additionally, red cedar has a pleasant aroma that adds to the sauna experience.
We advise against exposing Fir wood to prolonged direct sunlight in order to prevent cracking. However, if you choose to use a cover, it can help protect the wood. Red cedar and mahogany are suitable for areas with frequent wind and rain, and it is acceptable to place the sauna in direct sunlight. Both mahogany and red cedar are commonly used in building saunas because they have natural properties that make them suitable for outdoor use.
Ultimately, the choice of wood depends on personal preference, budget, aesthetics, and specific needs for the sauna.

What are the EMF readings of your saunas?
Our Maxwell series, Ample S series, Sublime-901BR and Wearwell series, Versa-903VT/903VR saunas have EMF readings between 0.1 and 1.0 mG, called near-zero EMF saunas. For those who want to be as cautious as possible, Near-zero Low EMF Infrared Saunas are like a drop in the ocean; we aim to reduce the EMF levels to an absolute minimum, even lower than regular Low EMF saunas. These saunas are for those who prioritize reducing their EMF exposure above all else, offering peace of mind to the most EMF-sensitive users by providing the safest possible environment for their infrared sauna experience.
Our Maxwell infrared heaters were granted a US patent in 2023 for a low electric field and low electromagnetic wave radiation infrared sauna. Many infrared sauna sellers claim to have Low-EMF, when in fact the EMF levels exceed the 10mG standard, or simply use shielding material to cover the heater. We know that high-frequency electromagnetic waves can be shielded by metal and common obstacles, but low-frequency electromagnetic waves are difficult to shield.

Do you have a full spectrum sauna?
The market is flooded with brands falsely marketing "full-spectrum" saunas simply to inflate profits. The reality? Most saunas—including ours—utilize far-infrared (FIR) heating, a proven technology with science-backed therapeutic benefits like deep tissue warmth, detoxification, and improved circulation.
While near-infrared (NIR) supports skin repair and wound healing, and mid-infrared (MIR) aids muscle recovery, no single heating system can effectively combine all three wavelengths (NIR+MIR+FIR) into one unit. Savvy buyers understand this—which is why our clients often pair our premium FIR saunas with dedicated Red Light/NIR devices, using them during pre-heat for a targeted, multi-spectrum wellness routine.
Don’t fall for gimmicks. True infrared therapy starts with the right technology—engineered for results, not marketing hype. Choose precision. Choose performance. Choose the infrared leader.

Does it come fully assembled? If not, what will I be responsible for?
The frame of the sauna is divided into 6 wooden boards assembled, respectively front and back, left and right, top and bottom boards, motor equipment and carbon heating panels and glass are installed on the boards.
You just need to put all the boards together in the order according to the instructions and plug in the circuit connectors between the boards and you are ready to use.
A strong person could install most infrared saunas alone. But two people can do it much more easily if they work together.
According to the honest feedback from customers, they will be installed in 20-30 minutes, we are very proud of the ease of installation.

How long does it take to heat to the maximum temperature?
Your sauna features an ETL-certified safety system with a maximum temperature limit of 149°F (65°C). For ideal infrared therapy sessions lasting up to 60 minutes, we suggest setting your sauna between 130-140°F (54-60°C). Unlike conventional saunas that simply heat the air, our advanced infrared technology delivers direct, deep-penetrating warmth to your body for more efficient and effective therapy.
The temperature display shows a combination of ambient air temperature and perceived warmth. Please remember that while the heating panels operate at high temperatures, the air itself remains comfortably warm. If you prefer a milder experience, consider using our specially designed backrest to increase your distance from the heating elements. Heating times vary based on panel power, sauna size, and room temperature - typically taking about 30 minutes to reach optimal therapy temperature, though this may range from 20 minutes in summer to 40 minutes in colder conditions.
Every aspect of our sauna design prioritizes your safety and comfort while delivering the full spectrum of infrared wellness benefits. The intelligent temperature control system maintains perfect conditions automatically, ensuring a worry-free, rejuvenating experience every time you use your sauna.

What temperature should I choose for sauna therapy?
Based on extensive user data and clinical research, we recommend the following scientifically validated temperature protocol for your far infrared sauna sessions.
For first-time users, we suggest entering when the sauna reaches 35-40°C (95-104°F). This range allows your body to gradually activate its natural sweating mechanism without thermal shock. Regular users may enter at 40-45°C (104-113°F) for faster therapeutic effects, while targeted therapy sessions work best at 45-50°C (113-122°F) for no more than 30 minutes.
Key therapeutic benefits occur in the 52-58°C (125-136°F) range, where far infrared waves deliver optimal deep-tissue penetration. Most users begin sweating within 5-8 minutes as core body temperature rises. Sessions typically last 15-40 minutes depending on individual tolerance and wellness goals.
For safety and comfort, we recommend seniors and those with health conditions start at lower temperatures (32-35°C). Always hydrate with 250-300ml of water before entering, and exit immediately if you feel lightheaded.
Our temperature guidelines are backed by thousands of user experiences, ensuring you receive the full benefits of far infrared therapy while prioritizing your wellbeing. The gradual heating process maximizes detoxification and circulation benefits without overwhelming your system.
For optimal safety, we recommend consulting with your healthcare professional before beginning infrared sauna therapy—especially if you have pre-existing medical conditions, are pregnant, or are taking medications. Our guidelines are designed for general wellness, but your doctor can provide personalized advice based on your unique health profile.

Can the indoor saunas be placed outside under covered patio?
Placing an indoor sauna outside under a covered patio is possible, but you’ll need to consider weatherproofing, insulation, and electrical safety. Indoor saunas aren’t designed for outdoor exposure, so even with a covered patio, moisture, temperature fluctuations, and pests could damage varnished exterior wood or the front door heater.
You have to pay attention to the absolute rain protection of the top and bottom for an indoor sauna. Because the top panel of indoor sauna has wires, and the bottom has no raised and waterproof base.
The heater may also be less efficient in colder outdoor conditions, increasing pre-heat time. Also, modifying an indoor sauna for outdoor use could void the warranty if damaged by moisture. If you proceed, seal the wood, upgrade insulation, and elevate the sauna to avoid ground moisture. However, for long-term durability, a purpose-built outdoor sauna is often a better choice. Go to the Outdoor Sauna collection page.

How close to the wall can the sauna set?
The sauna can be placed close to the wall, just leave at least 1 finger of clearance for easy movement. The power cord and main control box wire connections are located outside the sauna ceiling panel, preferably leaving 5-15 inches of clearance for easy wire inspection. If there is not enough clearance from the ceiling, the will have to be pushed into a tight space after completion.
How much clearance to leave is mainly a matter of whether it is convenient or not, no matter how small the clearance is, it will not affect the operation of the sauna.

What type of glue is used in the construction of SalusHEAT's saunas?
We use a nonchemical furniture-grade glue that's applied in between the wooden slats. Due to the nature of our products, it's important we use glue that will not off-gas.
Can I place these saunas on a carpeted area?
You can place the sauna on top of the carpet, Please note that except for the Airy series steam saunas, which cannot be placed on carpet, all other infrared saunas can be placed on it.
Carpets can also protect your wooden floors because if you don't pay attention to wiping off the sweat on the bottom of your sauna in time, it will flow down the bottom to the wooden floors.

What is the maintenance for an infrared sauna?
Wood is a living material that continues to respond to climate conditions, even after being manufactured into a sauna. Variations in the color or grain and irregularities such as fine cracks are part of the natural beauty of the wood and in no way should be considered defects. During outdoor use, wood may crack slightly due to the changes in moisture level. This will not affect the structural integrity of the sauna.
One of the perks of far infrared saunas is that the infrared waves themselves have natural disinfecting and sterilizing properties. So, if your sauna isn’t particularly dirty, you don’t have to worry about cleaning it too often. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy your personal retreat!
To keep things fresh and friendly, give your sauna a good clean every two weeks or after every 5-10 sweaty sessions. Your future self—and your sauna buddies—will thank you!
It is also not necessary to clean the exterior of the sauna. Our sauna not only undergoes a thorough electrical inspection before being packed and shipped, but we also apply a thick water-based protective varnish to the exterior.
Also, the sauna bench is one of the most personal and frequently used surfaces in your sauna, to keep it in good condition, we apply a layer of water-based varnish. This varnish is water-resistant and durable, but it’s important to note that it can dissolve in alcohol. For this reason, it’s best to avoid any treatment containing benzene or a high concentration of alcohol.
If the indoor sauna's wood surface appears visibly discolored, you can apply the varnish as needed. Also, the outdoor sauna's wood surface can be applied with a hard wax oil or protective finish.
To ensure long-lasting protection for your outdoor sauna, we recommend applying Outdoor Wood Wax Oil every 3-6 months for Fir wood, and Red cedar, and once 6 months for Mahogany.
If you are concerned about potential issues, we recommend purchasing our waterproof protective cover, tailored specifically for SalusHEAT saunas. This cover not only provides protection against rain during the rainy season but also maintains a comfortable temperature in cold winter weather.

Why Infrared?
How is an infrared sauna different than a "traditional sauna"?
A traditional sauna works by heating the air around you, often to very high temperatures, which makes you sweat. It can feel intense, almost like sitting in a hot room, and some people find it hard to stay in for long.
An infrared sauna, on the other hand, uses special light waves to heat your body directly. The air doesn’t get as hot, so it feels much more comfortable, but the heat goes deeper into your muscles and joints. This means you get better relaxation, pain relief, and detoxification without feeling overwhelmed by the heat.
Another big difference is efficiency. Infrared saunas warm up faster and use less energy than traditional ones, so they’re cheaper to run. Plus, because the heat is gentler, they’re a great option for people who struggle with high temperatures or have health concerns.
In short, if you want a more comfortable, effective, and energy-efficient way to enjoy sauna benefits, infrared is the way to go.

Are infrared saunas harmful to the human body?
Absolutely not. Infrared waves (also known as photobiomodulation) have been used in the medical field for many years. They are not only safe but also therapeutically beneficial when used appropriately. Unlike ultraviolet radiation, far-infrared wavelengths (5.6–15 microns) are a natural, non-ionizing form of energy that penetrates superficial tissues (1–3 cm depth) without damaging cellular structures.
Clinically, infrared heat promotes vasodilation, enhancing circulation and metabolic waste removal. Studies indicate it safely induces a lower core temperature rise (~1–2°C) than traditional saunas, reducing cardiovascular strain—making it preferable for hypertension or heat-sensitive individuals (Hannuksela & Ellahham, 2001).
Peer-reviewed research documents its efficacy in pain management (via endorphin release and reduced inflammation), detoxification (heavy metal excretion via sweat), and even cardiovascular conditioning (improved endothelial function). Our saunas meet FDA/CE safety standards, with built-in thermal regulators to prevent overheating. For optimal benefits, we recommend medically supervised protocols (15–30 mins/day at 40–60°C).

How do I use an infrared sauna?
Here's a simple guide to using your infrared sauna for maximum benefits and comfort. First, hydrate well before your session - drink a glass or two of water since you'll be sweating. Wear light comfortable clothing or just a towel, whatever you prefer. Start with lower temperatures around 100-110°F for your first few sessions as your body adjusts.
A good starting time is 15-20 minutes. You can gradually work up to 30-40 minutes as you get comfortable. Just sit back and relax - read, meditate, or listen to music. The infrared heat will gently warm your body from the inside out. You'll notice yourself sweating more than in traditional saunas, which is great for detoxification.
After your session, take it slow when standing up. Drink more water to rehydrate and maybe take a quick lukewarm shower to rinse off. Most people find using their sauna 3-4 times a week gives the best results for relaxation, pain relief and overall wellness.

Why can't the temperature setting go higher than 149°F?
The 149°F limit is an ETL safety standard built into the control panel. The reason the infrared saunas max out at 149°F is because they're designed to be both safer and more effective than traditional saunas that use extreme heat. Here's what you should know:
Infrared technology works differently - it heats your body directly rather than just heating the air around you. At 149°F, the infrared waves can penetrate deep into your tissues to deliver all the therapeutic benefits without creating that overwhelming, stuffy feeling of regular saunas. This lower temperature range is actually where infrared is most effective for detoxification, pain relief and relaxation.
Going hotter wouldn't necessarily make it work better. In fact, studies show that temperatures above 150°F can actually reduce the infrared's ability to penetrate your body effectively. We've optimized the temperature to give you maximum benefits while keeping you completely comfortable and safe during your sessions. The beauty is you'll still experience deep sweating and all the health benefits, just in a much more pleasant and sustainable way.

Can I add steam or additional heaters to an infrared sauna?
Not recommended. While we understand the appeal of adding steam or extra heaters, our infrared saunas are carefully engineered to work optimally at their designed specifications. Here's why we recommend keeping the original setup:
1) Infrared saunas are designed to deliver therapeutic benefits through precise wavelengths of light that penetrate your body tissues.
2) Adding steam or conventional heaters would actually interfere with how the infrared waves work, potentially reducing their effectiveness.
3) The moisture from steam can also affect the wood and electrical components over time.
Overheating puts you at risk for heat stroke, heat stroke, dehydration, and other heat-related risks.
The great news is that infrared technology provides all the benefits of traditional saunas (and more) without needing extreme heat or steam. You'll experience deep, detoxifying sweat at comfortable temperatures that are easier on your body. Many of our customers find they actually prefer this cleaner, more efficient approach to heat therapy.

Does infrared sauna have radiation?
Infrared saunas “radiate” heat. They do not emit “radioactivity.” Nor do they emit microwave radiation. The "radiation" in infrared saunas is simply heat energy, the same type of warmth you feel from sunlight (without the harmful UV rays). It's completely safe and natural.
Here's what you should know: Infrared waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, but they're at the gentle, therapeutic end - way different from worrying types like x-rays or gamma rays. In fact, your own body emits infrared heat! Our saunas use far-infrared technology that's been thoroughly tested and approved as safe by health organizations worldwide.
What you're really getting is deep-penetrating warmth that helps with circulation, relaxation and detoxification - all without any harmful effects. Many doctors and wellness experts actually recommend infrared therapy specifically because it's such a safe, effective way to support health.

Can I add a red light, near and mid infrared heater to my far infrared sauna?
That's an excellent question about enhancing your sauna therapy. While combining different light treatments may seem appealing, our far infrared saunas are carefully calibrated to deliver the most effective and safe experience. Here's what the science tells us:
Research shows that different infrared wavelengths interact uniquely with the body. Far infrared (3000nm-1mm) excels at deep tissue penetration and detoxification, while near infrared (700-1400nm) and red light (600-700nm) have distinct benefits for skin health and cellular energy. However, studies indicate that simultaneously mixing these wavelengths can reduce effectiveness—near infrared’s absorption properties may interfere with far infrared’s therapeutic depth (Karsten et al., 2020).
That said, sequential use of these therapies has shown promise. Clinical trials, like Huang et al. (2021), demonstrate that red light + near infrared used in separate sessions can improve outcomes for pain and recovery. Similarly, alternating far infrared with red light (rather than combining them) may offer compounded benefits—but this requires precise timing and equipment.
Currently, no home sauna system can deliver truly synchronized "full-spectrum" therapy without compromising safety or performance. Many commercial claims about "all-in-one" wavelength blending lack rigorous clinical validation.
For the best results, we recommend:
1) Sticking with pure far infrared for deep detox and relaxation.
2) Adding red light/near infrared as a separate treatment, using medical-grade devices designed for those wavelengths.

Who should not use a far infrared sauna?
It is always a caution for a pregnant woman with saunas. Raising the core body temperature of a woman, especially in the first trimester can have a permanent negative effect on fetal brain development.
Anyone advised against entering a low-heat infrared sauna by a medical professional should also take caution.
However, many people in typically weakened states such as cardiac illness, diabetes or even Multiple Sclerosis have reported they can tolerate the gentle heat of a medical grade sauna, as long as they do it under a doctor’s guidance and maintain ample fresh air ventilation into the cabin.
